Athens, Georgia – Georgian footballer Devin Willock The university confirmed in a statement that two enlisted employees were killed in a car crash in Athens early Sunday morning.
Willock, a redshirt sophomore from Milford, N.J., started two games on the offensive line this past season. Recruiter Chandler Lecroy was also killed, according to the university.
“The entire Georgia family is devastated by the tragic loss of football student-athlete Devin Willock and football team member Chandler Lecroy,” the university’s statement said. “Two other members of the football program were injured in the accident, both of whom are in stable condition, and we will continue to monitor their condition with medical staff.
“Devin and Chandler were two special people who meant so much to the University of Georgia, our football program and our athletic department. We ask everyone to keep their families in your prayers during this very difficult time.”
“We are deeply saddened and saddened by the loss of Devin Willock and Chandler Lecroy,” Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said in a statement. “Devin was an amazing guy in every way. In a statement, the Athens-Clark County Sheriff’s Office said the one-car accident occurred around 2:45 a.m. ET on Sunday. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the 2021 Ford Expedition left the road in the outer lane of Barnett Shoals Road and crashed into two power poles and several trees.
Police said Willock died at the scene. He was 20 years old. LeCroy, who was driving, was taken to a local hospital by ambulance and died as a result of her injuries. A 21-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries, and a 26-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries.

The 6-foot-7, 335-pound Willock played in all 15 games for the Bulldogs this past season, including starting at right guard in wins against Tennessee and Kentucky. He was ranked the 39th prospect in the country and the 17th prospect in New Jersey by ESPN Recruiting as a freshman at Paramus Catholic High School in 2020.
