Why is Elton John retiring from touring now?
I think the most important thing, the most important thing for us, is what this means for our family. Because for as long as I’ve known Elton, he’s been on the road, doing 90 to 100 shows a year. It’s a big commitment. Time, travel and rest between shows. And now we have two beautiful boys. They will be 12 and 10. And we were able to take them with us in the early days. And now they have their own lives. And it is really important that they continue to enjoy their own life and their own identity, so that their lives are not defined by their father’s profession.
In an Elton John love affair with painting charts, including two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 this year: “Cold Heart” with Dua Lipa and “Hold Me Closer” with Britney Spears.

He watches it daily. It feeds a part of his soul. And he’s totally fine with the way these new records have led her. And you know, you’ll see more. Like, it won’t stop. I am excited for him and excited for the great music he can bring to the world. Our streaming numbers, to see that 58% of his music is now consumed by people between the ages of 18 and 35 – that’s one of the things I think he’s most proud of. That he’s written songs that stand the test of time, that resonate with a whole new generation, and that to him is like, “Wow.”
Why Britney Spears Was The Perfect Partner For The ‘Hold Me Closer’ Duo.
During the lockdown, we watched those documentaries that were shown, and we were not aware… We heard about guardianship, but we did not understand its details and practicality. It was really annoying, like, “Oh my God, that poor girl, she’s been in jail for so long.” And as a recovering addict – both of us [David and Elton] We are recovering – We really understand the impact of the trauma.
When britney lifted [as a possible collaborator]And the [Elton] She was like, “Oh my God, she needs the hand to help take a step forward to get back on the charts again.” And I think the outpouring that she’s received from her fans, you know, is a great record, I know she’s really broken into bits, as we say in England with the response he’s received. And I hope Elton gives her a little more courage and a sense of being back in the studio, because music is such therapy.
